Re: Cul8r's g180w/g200w chevette
So I'm a bit [a year] behind the 8-ball with this, but, rad!!! I love it. Looks absolutely boss. What's it like to drive? One of my twincams is nearing completion, but is on the back-burner due to the drift car... Hopefully soon I'll have something to contribute!

Re: G161W-G180W-G200W bearing sets (including cam bearings)
Yup, put me down for at least two sets of cam bearings (with dummy cam bearings too). I may or may not have to flounder for the money depending on how things are at the time, but I'm pretty much of the same thoughts as ISU - will do (almost) anything for two sets. Two of my cars will definitely be r...

Re: Cam bearing oil supply - dummy cam modifications?
Nice!! Well, I guess with that recess carved around it, there's no point in it rotating (or being there at all, really) although you'd have to put something in it's place to direct the oil up, or it'd just blast out of the dummy cam chamber and leave the head dry (I think, haven't seen the guts of a...

Detailed piston info needed! Attn: gurus!
Okay, so if I want forged pistons for my G180W (primary blue rocker cove, ala ZZ/R I believe), I need to fill out this form. They say it's okay to just give as much info as possible, but I'd much rather give them all information possible. Custom forged pistons for a turbo motor are not something you...

Re: Twincam starter motor - working or not
Speaking of prices, how much would you like for one of the DOHC starters cul8r? And is there any chance you could ask a local post office how much to send an object the size of a tissue box, weighing about 6-7kg? A SOHC starter weighs dead on 5, apparently DOHCs are a tad more.

Re: Gemini g180w startermotor HELP!!!!
Just concluding this thread, I now own this engine, complete with twincam starter.
I'm curious about which exhaust chester288 was using though, the stock header hits the engine mount (but not the starter) for me.. Mate if you have any other twincam exhaust lying around let me know!!

Re: Speedway TD Coupe
For a speedway car I say build a serious G161Z. Port the hell out of the head, EFI it using a rodeo manifold. Have the head welded up for high compression (aim for 11:1) and run a giant cam, flycut the pistons if need be before assembly. Have the lower end balanced and make sure the whole setup's re...

Re: Oil Cooler?
Any tips on how to add an oil cooler to the system? There are three ways I've considered - making some kind of fitting to the oil filter to send the filtered oil through the cooler before being fed into the motor, but this would restrict flow unless an electronic oil pump was fitted inline.. Which c...

Re: Twincam starter motor - working or not
Haha, it's possible! If I don't find one in a month or two I'll be in touch. I'm not really in a hurry, but I wouldn't want to hold out for ages then lose contact with you - be a bit pointless! How much you chasing? What's the deal with the motor anyway? Will it ever run again? I'd hate to separate ...

Cam bearing oil supply - dummy cam modifications?
I have had no personal input into this information, but it's food for thought. In a thread on Just Gems, Sammy uploaded a document that I believe he was sent by the previous owner when he bought his twincam: Isuzu twin cam G180W dummy cam modifications The reason the cam bearings seem not to survive...

LOL, "good for bogs, car ramps and railway crossings" - brought out the sadistic imagination in me! The LHS reduction starter from 1985 Jackaroo diesel - aside form the larger mounting diameter, is it feasible? ie similar drive gear, two bolts in same location, physically clears? Sounds li...

I have a mate who works at an exhaust shop, says he'll try to modify the extractors to suit. Now I've just gotta save up some dosh! Anyway, I feel endebted to you. How much do I owe you? Re: EOI: Twincam interior parts, Nz
Pics would help. I might be interested in the centre console, what are the gauges for? And are the faces of the gauges black? I'd be painting the console black to match the rest of my interior, but wouldn't want to tamper with the gauge faces. Ballpark figure - I don't want to offend, or waste time,...

Twincam starter motor - working or not
Hey everyone, Well as I know have two G180W's, and three Geminis, it seems I need at least two DOHC starter motors. I have one. I'm prepared to have a non-working one rebuilt, as I'm sure that the one fitted to the "turbo project" G180W will be a total pain to get to, let alone the NA engi...

Eli's OTHER G180W
So in the time the site was kaputnic, I gave into temptation and bought a second G180W. Scored it for $900, freshly rebuilt, with a 5spd box, short shifter, and spare 4spd, all original twincam gear AFAIK. Also came with a complete (again, AFAIK) stock EFI setup, and some twin weber adaptor plates. ...

Yeah SC12/14 are cheap but not great, big hairdryers I've been told. Some superchargers, from my understanding, don't use a clutch but instead use a relief valve, but I could be wrong... maybe they use both? If you're using low comp pistons then I highly endorse supercharging, low comp turbo is a ba...

Re: Stock head gasket ?strong?
If you are wondering about the copper head gasket, the best bet is to call around to copper machine shops and engine shops to see who can do the best price, you can use an existing head gasket or use the head/block itself as a blank once it's been pulled apart. A shop down here said they could make ...

Basically you'll need to know the cc of the piston crown protruding from the block. This can also be calculated if you know the stock head cup cc, but if you knew that you could calculate the compression far easier anyway. I'm afraid I don't have numbers for you but if you know either of these thing...
