Cars manufactured prior to 1986 do not need to comply with ULP laws regardless of donor vehicle. Irrespective; all Japanese vehicles produced for the japanese market since 1968 are designed for unleaded petrol only. As such a catalytic converter should accompany any donor vehicle. A larger pump is definitely the go, however I have reservatiuons about the longevity of the drive gears on the dummy cam dealing with the extra load. For this reason I have made special mention of external oil pumps or dry sumping.
